General Rules

School Session :

The school session is from January to December with 3 vacations: Summer, Puja and Christmas. The whole academic year is divided into three terms.

Assessment :

Assessment of a pupil’s learning outcome is made through three terminal tests as part of the Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation System (CCE). The teacher, after evaluating the answer scripts, shows them to the pupils only in the school. Parents may clarify the answer scripts, on the designated date given in the diary.Marks of minor subjects will also be considered for promotion. The assessment includes :

I. Objective type questions

II. Subjective type questions

III. Reflective type questions

Promotion :

A student who fails in two consecutive years in the same class or in two consecutive classes will have to be withdrawn from the school. Likewise, pupils who are too old to repeat a class will have to be withdrawn.

Those students of class IX & XI who do not secure the pass marks in all subjects will be detained.

PASS MARKS : Classes I - IV — 40%

Strong warning will be given by competent authorities to students.

(a) who do not obtain pass marks in any two main subjects: Mathematics, English, 1st Language (Bengali / HIndi) and in any other three subjects.

(b) who get less than 35%(S) and 40%(P) in the aggregate.

(c) who do not have 80% attendance.

In accordance to the instruction of W.B.B.S.E. / W.B.C.H.S.E. students failing to qualify in classes - IX and XI would be barred from getting promotion to classes - X and XII respectively.

Visiting Hours on Class Days :

Parents / Guardians must not stay in the school premises during class hours. They may neither visit the class rooms nor meet their wards or teachers during class hours or during lunch break. Parents will leave their boys at the gate without entering the premises.Parents may visit teachers on Wednesdays and Fridays only between 2.00 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. (Primary) and 2.30 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. (Secondary), after a written request is made in the school diary; likewise, teachers may invite parents to meetthem through the school diary. An appointment slip will be the gate pass for parents.

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday : 10.00 a.m.-11.00 a.m.

Others by appointment only.

Vice-Principal – Primary : Visiting Hours for Guardians

Monday to Friday : 2.00 p.m. - 3.00 p.m.

Vice-Principal – Secondary & Higher Secondary Section: Visiting Hours for Guardians

Monday to Friday : 10.00 a.m. - 11.00 a.m.

Parents meeting Teacher: Wednesdays and Fridays 

Primary – 2.05 p.m. to 2.35 p.m.

Secondary – 2.25 p.m. to 2.55 p.m

Absence, unless truly excusable and proved so, is strongly objected to. A regular absentee may not be allowed to sit for the ensuing test. However, Parents must not send a sick child to school, not even for tests. A medical certificate should be produced for more than 3 days of absence. Presence for the celebration of national days like Republic Day, Independence Day, School Feast Day is obligatory. Students may not be allowed to sit for ensuing test, if they remain absent to study at home before tests. If any student remains absent on the last day before a vacation or on the first day of class after any long vacation, he may be charged a fine of Rs. 100/-.

Assembly:

The School Assembly will start at 8.45 a.m. sharp. Students must be punctual and must line up for the Assembly by 8.35 a.m. Teachers are expected to be with the boys at the Assembly at 8.40 a.m. and guide the boys to the class at 9 a.m. sharp. Attendance should be taken in the first period. In case a boy is late, the teacher should send the boy promptly to Vice-Principal’s office to get the Diary signed. Only then he should be allowed to attend class.

Transfer Certificate / Withdrawal :

Before withdrawing a student from the school, a month’s notice in writing is to be given to the Principal / Headmaster or a month’s fees is to be paid. T.C. will not be issued unless all dues are paid in full. Till the T.C. is taken by the student, he is liable to pay all the school fees. Rs. 100/- is charged for all certificates and Rs. 200/- for T.C.

Payment of Fees:

Payment of fees fir the month should be paid as oer the dates mentioned in the fee book. Fee defaulters have to pay a fine of Rs.200/-. If fees are not paid by the 15th of the following month, defaulters will not be allowed to attend school and answer scripts of semester examination will not be shown to students and parents. Fees may be paid Quarterly / Half Yearly / Yearly at the beginning. Payment by cheque is not accepted.

Class Discipline

Students should not carry mobile phones and other expensive electronic gadgets with them, and if found, it will be seized and returned to the guardians on paying a fine of Rs.500/-.
