PRIMARY SCHOOL

 

The academic year began with the spectacular school Sports Day on 2nd February. Students of classes 2 and 3 presented colorful drill display. A well-coordinated pyramid formation by the boys of class 3 and 4 followed the drill display.

 20th June witnessed some eminent storytellers of School belonging to class 1,2,3, and 4. Their technique of story-telling took the audience and teachers to fairyland.

 On 18th July we had quiz competition for classes 3 and 4. Very enthusiastic participants gripped the audience’s attention. The event had some interesting audio and video shows too.

 On 14th August we celebrated Independence Day in advance by conducting Singing competition on patriotic songs. The judges’ observation was that some of the participants would surely make our institution proud in future.

 Two students of class IV participated in the Inter School Speech and Elocution competition organized by National Boys’ School. Kirti Chosh of 4A won the 1st prize and Samudraneel Karkar bagged the 3rd prize.

 On 12th September students of 1 A,B, and C participated in the Inter School Carnival organized by DPS Ruby Park. Our Youngest members of the school participated in three events- Bring and Brag (extempore) Spell-O-fun and Puppet Show.

National and Inter National Level

 Samantak Das of 2B won the 1st prize in Table Tennis from CLT and a silver medal in Swimming in the INTER STATE SWIMMING COMPETITION. He has been winning these prizes for the last 3 years is note worthy.

 Suparno Gupta of class 1C was awarded the youngest puppeteer prize at the World Puppet Carnival held in Bangkok, Thailand in November 2014.

 Ladies and gentlemen, St. Lawrence salutes these two gentlemen. May God bless them and continue to lead them to greater heights.

 A special mention is to be made on School assembly conducted on a Theme bases. Every week the morning assembly is conducted in a unique manner by different classes. Class teachers take keen interest in preparing the students ahead of time. It is encouraging to see maximum participation of the students with variety of items. The students feel great to be on stage and in front of the microphone facing teachers and students and gradually overcoming stage fear. This has helped students to improve in the their spoken English and gain confidence too.

 The digital teaching is used regularly in the classroom. This has improved the quality of teaching and learning, showing signs of advanced teaching. The TATA CLASS EDGE personnel help, orientations and workshop to improvise the teachers’ skill periodically is worthy of mention.
